What is Green Coffee?

Green coffee beans do not go through the roasting process. Thus, it has 3 to 5 times more antioxidants than the traditional version of coffee, being “purer” and very beneficial to our health.
It especially contains chlorogenic acid (a phytochemical) that increases metabolism.

It helps reduce body fat and has twice as much caffeine as compared to traditional roasted coffee.

What does Specialty Coffee mean?

The SCAA defines specialty coffee in its green stage as coffee that is free of primary defects, has no quakers, is properly sized and dried. Also presents in the cup free of faults and taints and has distinctive attributes. The coffee must be able to pass aspect grading and cupping tests.

Specialty Coffee is any coffee that receives above 80 points up to 100 points in the cupping test.

Benefits of Green Coffee

The benefits attributed to raw coffee are due to the substances that it contains: chlorogenic acid and caffeine. In this way, their main advantages can be highlighted:

Prevention of hypertension: The raw coffee beans have a high concentration of phenolic acids, especially polyphenols, such as chlorogenic acid, which has hypotensive effects.

Weight loss:
 Studies indicate that coffee helps in weight loss, acting on the mobilization and burning of fat, as well as decreasing the storage of fat in cells.

Ally for physical activity: Because it contains good doses of caffeine, raw coffee beans can be a good ally for those who practice physical activity, with an excellent thermogenic effect.

How to consume Raw Coffee as a tea?

Recipe 1: Whole Grains

  • Bring 300ml of water to boil.
  • Add 20 g of green beans and let it stand for 10 minutes.
  • Strain and pour into a cup.
  • You can drink it straight or sweeten it with honey.

Recipe 2: Ground

  • Bring 300ml of water to boil.
  • Add 15g of ground green coffee in a french press or similar.
  • Pour the boiling water and let it stand for 5 minutes.
  • Place in a cup and enjoy!

To vary your pleasures, you can add some mint leaves 🍃 or a little of ginger during your infusion. If you like a little sweetness you can add a spoon of honey 🍯. Enjoy 😊
